The multinational company Nyrstar has pleaded not guilty to charges relating to the death of a worker at its Hobart zinc smelter.
The 52 year old maintenance worker died in August last year, after being pinned between a scissor lift and a floor beam in the plant's purification basement.
A Nyrstar representative appeared in the Magistrates Court today and pleaded not guilty to failing to identify hazards in the workplace.
The matter will now proceed to a hearing in February.
Tasmanian Access Systems, a safety equipment and scaffolding hire company, and its representative Gerard Laurence Sullivan, are also facing charges in connection with the man's death.
They have yet plead to a charge of failing to maintain a plant in a safe condition and failing to take reasonable care as an employee.
The case is due back in court in March.
