Tasmanian Senator Eric Abetz has hit out at the Federal Government's failure to provide detailed information about its home insulation roll-out in Tasmania. Information on the Tasmanian roll-out of the insulation program is being sought by Tasmania's Office of Workplace Standards, the Fair Work Ombudsman, and the Federal Opposition.
It is not known how many Tasmanian homes had insulation installed, how many operators participated in the roll-out or how many safety audits have been conducted.
Senator Abetz is suspicious.
"The fact that they haven't given us that information is an indication that a cover-up is going on," he said.
The Opposition estimates 26,000 Tasmanian homes had insulation installed, with 6000 potentially at risk.
There have been no fires linked to the insulation scheme in Tasmania.
The Government has been contacted for a response, but had not replied at this time.
